New Approach for 2013
—
Welcome to the new site, a work in progress. With projects getting larger, the updates to the site were becoming less often, so I've decided to launch a site which I can incrementally update the interface in parallel to actual new projects too
The site may never be the finished article, but will start working for me by becoming a testbed for new ideas, each of these panels could include anything, so I'm looking forward to both evolving the site's functionality, but also finessing the interaction and details so you can go through version by version and see how it evolves

A Brief History
—
I (James) studied for a BA(Hons) in Interaction Design at Ravensbourne, working under Rodney Edwards, Geoff White and Peter Wildbur amongst others, whilst being on a scholarship with Eidos
After graduating with First Class Honours, I went to work at Edwards Churcher, working closely with the founders Rodney Edwards and Neil Churcher. I worked here for four years on a variety of sites and installations, creating interactive exhibits for the Science Museum and winning a D&AD Yellow pencil for 'Compaq Bird' in collaboration with Studio aka were just some of the highlights
I then went to work at The Mill in London having created their previous web site, here I worked on everything from interactive games for The Guardian, A DVD interface for Orbital for one of the first DVD albums and designing and directing a commercial for PlayStation
After about two years whilst in the middle of a big project for a film called Bodysong, I was layed off by The Mill as they closed their interactive arm, so I took the project with me, and won a BAFTA for it
Since then I've worked on a number of projects including Surface View, The Mill, Escape Studios.

I first built this idea for an interface to showcase my degree work back in 1997, and I've revisited it for various projects since, as I still think it is powerful in that it allows you to view a lot of information without ever leaving the page.
